Red Rock Canyon

Has Patio!
Kids Eat Free!
RED ROCK CANYON OPEN SPACE is a slice of hiking heaven in the middle of a city. A few minutes into your hike and it feels like you are whisked away to a canyon far away from “it all.”
Many people start on the flat Red Rock Canyon Trail…it’s flat, ADA accessible, great for those who want a pretty nature walk (and quick easy access to the quarry).
However, we opted for something a little more rocky. We parked at the far west side lot and took the Contemplative Trail > Sand Canyon Trail > Quarry Pass Trail. We were climbing on rocks, walking dirt paths atop mesas, and getting great views of the canyons.
The Quarry is the showstopper of the hike, not to be missed! 🤩
Garden of the Gods gets much of the hype for being a free scenic open space in CoSprings (it’s a top tourist destination in the state), but give this one a go if you haven’t!
⭐️ No ticket required! It’s free to enter, which can make this open space busier than others. However, we ran into certain few people on our route.
🐶 Leashed dogs are allowed, and there is an off-leash area.
🚲 Bikes allowed too, just check the map for bike-friendly trails! Plus a fun bike course.
🧺 I did see a couple picnic pavilions! Not a ton, but we were not sticking around to eat on this particular day.
🧗 Rock climbing allowed by permit!
🚽 Potties available at the parking lots
