PHILIP S MILLER PARK

If you haven’t been to the Philip S. Miller complex yet, you are really missing out on a whole day of fun. Yes there is a playground (more on that in a bit), but there is also a huge soccer field, a ninja warrior park, a 200-step incline, a trail system, a zip line course, an obstacle course, an amphitheater, tons of pavilion space, and a splash pad. I’m out of breath from all that, because there’s so much you can pack in a day!

The playground is a short hike from the parking lot, but several options sit atop a small hill. My kids always make a pit stop at the enormous climbing “web” before we head over to the play structure. While the traditional playground is not enormous, my kids seem to always have a great time climbing on the “caves” for hours.

They also love the teeter-totter options (that are much safer than what I had as a kid). And yes, there’s a big ol’ sandpit 😐 I make this face because, who loves pulling sand out of every crevice when they get home?! But it’s not about me 😂 My kids love the pretend construction machines and making sand piles with them. It’s always a happenin’ feature at this park.

There’s a couple baby swings, but a quick trek further up the hill you’ll find saucer swings that you can easily fit a few kids on. Or you can just spread out on it yourself and enjoy the breeze 😎

And your kids can’t leave without going down the enormous 40-foot slide. It’s yellow and inviting and every kid’s favorite part. And it’s pretty safe! My 2yo goes down it without a problem these days, but I definitely had to hold her hand a few times and sprint down the side of the slide with her.

We packed a lunch and spent HOURS at Philip S. Miller Park yesterday, and we didn’t even visit every part. Sometimes we start with the incline, sometimes we run around the turf field to get the wiggles out. With several options, just be prepared to have those kids sufficiently worn out and ready for naps when you are done with this trip 😴
