MT. FALCON - PARMALEE TRAIL
This little newly-turned 4yo has gotta start hiking on her own š As much as it pains me to look back at sweet pictures of her riding in the backpack carrier. I just canāt anymore, sheās too heavy. And thatās okā¦so letās start embracing what hiking will look like for our family, for a little while!
Mt. Falcon is a great spot to find some short trails with great scenery. I let my tot lead the way, which led us down Parmalee. Itās a downhill trail and I reminded her several times that I would not be carrying her back. I was having daytime nightmares about having to throw her over my shoulder back uphill š
But you know what? She didnāt ask for me to pick her up. We turned around less than halfway down (āto go back and have a snackā) and she did great! She told me her legs were tired, but didnāt whine, cry or complain.
You know what I did hear?
āThis is a beautiful view, mommy.ā
āI want to go faster.ā
āThis is my favorite hike.ā

Setting no expectations, not hoping for a vigorous workout, and just moving at a kids pace really paid off. She loved the hike, love nature, and enjoyed time with her mom š§”
If youāre checking out Mt. Falcon, this is a great spot to āget startedā if youāre new to hiking but still want those Colorado views. And if youāre not new to hiking, itās still a great stroll not too far from Castle Rock.
