BROWN PALACE AFTERNOON TEA
Full disclosure: I debated a little about posting about this excursion, because a fancy afternoon tea with two young spirited kids (who were 2 and 5 at the time) is not for the faint of heart 😂 I had several friends tell me I was crazy for doing this alone, that I need a partner in crime to help wrangle them or I should just take one kid so I’m not outnumbered.
But we did it, and we lived to tell the tale with flying colors!
We had a colorful array of scones, sandwiches, and desserts…the pictures here don’t even do justice to how much food we actually received, we literally brought 3 boxes of food home. Everything was so delicious, my favorite was the egg salad sandwich🥚
So many tea choices! The kids with with a berry hibiscus tea and drank up SO much of it…the amount of sugar cubes used was, at times, appalling 😂 but hey whatever it takes right?
This is a super popular tea, usually booked out months in advance. You either need to have a couple months notice or get lucky with a cancellation.
They DO welcome kids! There’s special pricing for children on the menu, which is always a key indicator that kids are welcome 👧
So how did my kids do? SO much better than I anticipated 😅 My youngest was 2 at the time and therefore a little squirrely 🐿 But she understood that all the drinkware was “clinky” and asked me for plenty of help. They loved the pretty food and enjoyed pouring “fresh tea.” I let them each bring a backpack of books and little toys in case they got bored, and it took awhile for that to set in because the tea is interactive. You can see my tiny child sharing her scone with Marshall 🐾
It was a perfect little fancy tea party 👭
